The Course
The Orchards Golf Club is the cornerstone of a 525 acre residential and
golf community. The golf course, with its classic looks and style of play,
is an eighteen-hole championship daily fee course, designed by internationally
acclaimed golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones Jr. Reminiscent of
the private clubs of the twenties. The Orchards challenges the golfer
by permitting a variety of approaches to each hole.

The Detroit metropolitan area is blessed with some of the greatest
golf courses in the nation, notes Bobby Jones Jr., yet they
are limited to play by their members and guests. My goal in designing
The Orchards was to create an outstanding public golf course which would
provide golfers with an enjoyable, yet challenging round that is a true
test of golf.
The Clubhouse
Mindful of the architectural heritage in the area, the clubhouse is reminiscent
of the Victorian design, which is predominant in the towns of Romeo and
Washington. The facility offers both mens and womens full
service locker rooms, a full service golf shop and a full service restaurant
and bar, with seating for up to 100 people. Also, the clubs outdoor
banquet facility can accommodate parties and events of up to 165 people.
Featured from the outdoors facility and the clubhouse terrace are the
breathtaking view of the first fairway, and the panoramic view of the
Detroit Skyline.
Practice Facility
The practice facility at The Orchards is unique to Southeastern Michigan.
The 27,000 square foot practice green was designed as a combination pitching,
putting, and bunker shot practice area. The practice range was designed
to accommodate both individual practice and lessons by The Orchards professional
staff. The range is 400 yards long with split level tees of 12,000 square
feet open to the public at the North end, while a single 8,500 square
foot tee is dedicated specifically to teaching, at the South end. The
practice area is open daily to the public, unless a group lesson is in
session. Range balls are sold in bags of 40 - 45 balls each. The bags
can be purchased in the pro shop. Please respect others on the range sand
practice areas, and follow all range rules.
